The New York Times published a story on January 7, 2024 about a woman whose cremated remains were buried at the Hartsdale Pet Cemetery in New York. She died without family and all her executor and lawyer knew was that her instructions upon her death were to be buried at the pet cemetery. But no one seemed to know why.
Through a combination of luck and research, the answer was revealed. I won’t give it away here because the article is well worth reading. There’s a lot about the history of the Hartsdale Pet Cemetery which resonates with those of us who know Aspin Hill Memorial Park well. There are over 50 humans buried at Aspin Hill. These were people who loved their animal companions so much they wanted to join them in death.

What a good man Mr. Martin is, to have seen that she could be buried with her son.
